Honesty and money
“Money is the worst discovery of human life. But it is the most trusted material to test human nature”.
Today money is the pivot of our lives. Without money you get nowhere. We are mostly valued at our income and expenditure. From early times people got greedy when it concerns money and it actually created war between countries. People want wealth and will do anything to obtain it. But:
Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. Inner values like friendship, trust, honesty, and compassion are much more reliable than money, they always bring happiness and strength. Dalai Lama
I am not saying we must not strive for the better, but like John H Jewett said: “The real measure of our wealth is how much we’d be worth if we lose all our money”. We can lose all our money and still be rich. It is the way we see life and adapt to it that make us prosper. The more money we have the more we need, because we live to our income and not to our need. The more money we have the more we waste, we buy things we mostly don’t need or will ever use. So let us be honest with ourselves, come to a standstill and start looking at your budget, if you have one, and see where you can cut expenditure, and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish with much less.
“Honesty is the fastest way to prevent a mistake from turning into a failure “James Altucher.
“Integrity is telling myself the truth and honesty is telling the truth to other people” Spencer John
We see here that integrity works towards yourself, and honesty works to other people. We need to be honest in everything we do. Especially when we work with children, we need to be honest to build up their self esteem and show them this valuable aspect of life. We need honesty in our workplace, there we receive money for the WORK we do and not the time we spend in the work facility doing our own thing. I saw a programme where people were caught doing their own thing on their superior’s premises making money for themselves. That is the utmost dishonesty you can get.
“The truth shall set you free” Very strong words. But very true words. Honesty is to be true to yourself and to others, and when we live it to the full, we will prosper and see the fruit of our deeds, it is to be upright and fair.
