Type and description of project:

Sunrise Energy LPG Import terminal Project, currently in an advanced stage of construction, is being constructed by WBHO Construction in a consortium arrangement between the pipeline, Buildings and Road and earthworks division. Each of the three divisions is responsible for various portions of the work. The Building division is responsible for the construction of the Office and control room building, the workshop and warehouse, the gatehouse building as well as the pump house. While the size of the buildings seem insignificant to some of the projects that the building team have just come off in Cape Town, the high specification and safety regulations to gas facilities make these buildings quite unique.

Geographic location of project:

The project is located in Saldanha Bay, an hour and half’s drive north of Cape Town. The site is easily accessible from Camp Road (MR559).

Name of Project:  Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital (CBMH) – NETCARE fit out, Cape Town

Type and description of project:

The 15-storey, designed hospital is set to become a landmark in the City of Cape Town. The Hospital described as ‘super specialised’ and this is best defined by comparison:

 A conventional 250 bed start-up hospital required approximately 20,000 m² and typically comprises of 5 to 6 theatres, 20 ICU/HCU beds, 10 NNICU cots and 35 medical doctors and specialists. CBMH is a 248 bed ’super specialised’ hospital accommodated in approximately 28,000 m² and comprises 11 theatres, 2 cardio-catherisation laboratories, 61 specialised beds and 110 medical doctors and specialist.

Name of Project:  Erf 247, Roggebaai – New building for Hospital, Cape Town

Type and description of project:

The 16-storey, purpose designed hospital is set to become a landmark in the City of Cape Town. Its new location is easily accessible from all major freeways into the city. Consist of 8 Parking floors and 7 Hospital floor levels with a helicopter landing area on the roof. Construction of an in-situ concrete superstructure, including the following:

• Reinforced foundation
• Flat reinforced concrete slabs, totaling approximately 61,900m2
• Retaining walls
• Helicopter landing area
• Emergency exit and main stairs wells through the building
• Vertical lift shafts throughout the building.

Name of Project:  New Works to P’nP & Cross Mall, V & A Waterfront

Type and description of project:

The expansion includes the reconfiguring of a section of the lower ground level for a new 6500m2 premium Pick n Pay, a pedestrian and vehicular tunnel under a major access road to create a super basement, and an innovative steel structure to hang from the roof trusses to create a link between two existing malls and double volume shop fronts.

Geographic location of project:

The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town is situated on the Atlantic shore, Table Bay Harbour, the City of Cape Town and Table Mountain.
